Recognizing the importance of citizenship education in the child and youth population, the “Germinar um banco de sementes” - grounded in civic and active participation in the prevention and solution of environmental issues - project aims the pursuit the Agenda 2030’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on the points:

END HUNGER, ACHIEVE FOOD SECURITY AND IMPROVED NUTRITION AND PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

In the dissemination of small-scale producers, in sustainable agricultural production and resilient techniques, as well as in preserving species diversity and creating seed banks.

ENSURE INCLUSIVE AND EQUITABLE QUALITY EDUCATION AND PROMOTE LIFELONG OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL

In promoting knowledge for sustainable development.

ENSURE SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION PATTERNS

Contributing to sustainable consumption, efficient use of natural resources and production of information to raise awareness of sustainable development.

PROTECT, RESTORE AND PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE USE OF TERRESTRIAL ECOSYSTEMS, SUSTAINABLY MANAGE FORESTS, COMBAT DESERTIFICATION, AND HALT AND REVERSE LAND DEGRADATION AND HALT BIODIVERSITY LOSS

In preventing the extinction of threatened species, promote equal access to genetic heritage and protection of floristic species.

This project is also in line with the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (EGCB 2011-2020), addressing the five strategic objectives:

1. Understand and document plant diversity;

2. Preserve;

3. Promote education for plant diversity awareness;

4. Training for conservation;

5. Use plant diversity in a sustainable way.
